Breeders should be knowledgable

There are certain things that good breeders do to ensure healthy puppies. The sire (father) and dam (mother) of the puppies you are considering purchasing should have their hips scored and eyes tested. The breeder should be knowledgable about the breed and should be helpful and informative. Good breeders will interview prospective buyers and ask lots of questions.

Serious dog breeders care very much where their puppies go. They want the puppies settled in a loving home for life. They want the relationship to be a secure, loving one that will bring joy to the owner and dog. Good dog breeders are also concerned about the dog population possibly exceeding the good homes available for dogs. They want to control excess population by informing people who do not know what they are getting into when they breed their pet.

Puppies should be wormed regularly while they are with their mother.
