Dry Land

On a dryland rig
Due to the lack of serious snowfall here in the UK, mushers have to resort to "dryland rigs". These are what can only be described as three wheeled BMX bikes that you stand on.

In the UK we have many rallies organised throughout the winter where, mushers can race their rigs, usually around a forest trail at distances between 2 to 6 miles.

Various harnesses and lines are required to hook the dogs to the rig, both to ensure safety for the musher and the dogs. Any number of dogs can be used in a team, generally from 2 to 6 dogs at a time, compared to the larger teams used on snow.

Rallies are very exciting places. With sometimes up to a thousand dogs all bouncing on their hind legs and howling to go.

Not only is working huskies are well respected sport in the UK, it can also be taken at a bit more leisurely pace - just for fun.

Huskies are born runners, and it would be very sad, if your Siberian didnt get the chance to pull something.
