Thyroid Deficiency

ImageThyroid deficiency is an inherited condition and occurs relatively commonly in Siberians.

Symptoms are many and varied but the most common early sign is that the dog becomes lethargic and lacks his usual energy. Poor coat quality, infertility and generally low condition are all signs of the possibllity of low thyroid levels in the Siberian.

The condition is identified through a blood test and is rectified through daily oral drug administration. Without this the animals quality of life is poor and the condition will eventually lead to death. With treatment, the Siberian can be expected to live a normal, healthy life.
